Sunny days and even brighter nights are here in Lake County for you to escape, relax, and enjoy. Plan your weekend itinerary of fun in “Real Florida, Real Close,” from the Tavares Train Station to shopping in downtown Mount Dora, to an off-road adventure in Clermont, it’s not too late to make some sweet memories for the family to cap off the summer. The Gomez family, parents Marisol and Juan Carloa, Adrian, 14, Leo 11, and Gia, 6 are your Lake County tour guides for the weekend.
Friday
Enjoy a stroll on Ruby Street in Tavares and stop by the Tavares Train Station to grab a few selfies in front of the train and on the train car steps. To get a 360-degree uninterrupted view of Lake County, hop on a seaplane over Lake Dora to see the county from a birds-eye perspective.
Mount Dora is a quick drive from Tavares for browsing the shops and boutiques. Make sure to stop by the Scoops on 5th for a sweet ice cream treat or grab a coffee at Serendipity. Walk off the beaten path to the boardwalk at Lake Dora to get an even closer look at the scenic views of plants, trees and wilidlife.
Saturday
A 35 minute drive north is all that you will need to spend the whole day making a splash. Alexander Springs’ crystal clear blue water has enough for the both the diving enthusiast or the casual swimmer. Make sure to enjoy the Timucuan Trail on your day of fun in the sun, while you’re there.
Sunday
Our Sunday is filled with lots of excitement today as we take a ride on the wild side at Revolution Adventures in Clermont. Take off on ATVs or Mucky Ducks and explore the 230 acres of land for an off-road destination adrenaline rush.
After that, a day of grilling and picnicking at Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont is just a few miles away. Jumping right on in and taking a dip in the cold water is the perfect way to end a fun-filled weekend in Lake County.
